In the modern world, with globalization dominating all aspects of everyday and public life, interstate relations and alliances are more important than ever, especially for a country like Greece, whose geographical location is at the crossroads of continents and cultures, which creates opportunities but also risks.
The strategic location, cultural history and current ties of Greece uniquely position it as Europe’s potential geopolitical gateway to the quickly developing regions of East Africa and the Middle East, enhancing trans-Mediterranean connectivity.
In this emerging scenario, PADEE-WHIA acts as a catalyst in reinforcing bilateral ties, not only with adjacent nations but also in strengthening relations globally. It lays emphasis on the overall consolidation of Greece’s multidimensional geopolitical and geostrategic role. While US-Greece relations are of significant note, the focus of relation-strengthening extends to a large network that includes other European countries, Australia, Britain, Canada etc.
PADEE-WHIA through its activities effectively promotes Greek positions on relevant issues and encourages even greater rapprochement and cooperation with governments and institutions of foreign countries. These issues include a wide swath, from the promotion of tourism and foreign investment to protection of Greek borders, recognition of the Armenian and Pontian Genocide and observance of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). There is also a broader focus on the efficient utilization of trade and energy corridors to transform the region into a regional hub that positively contributes to the security of both Greece and Europe.
